Part of the inspiration for this painting was actually driving on I-81 through beautiful Virginia. I travel through that part of the country a couple of times a year, and it is a beautiful state. The rolling hills and colorful trees along the way (depending on the season) are lovely, and seeing all of the rural homes remind me of how many people are just living their lives like the rest of us.

As a child, I lived in a rural part of northern New Jersey. As an adult, I have lived in beautiful parts of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. Jumping in the car for a quick drive is sometimes just the ticket to relax that I crave!
