Still Enough
$160.00
A soft landscape of earthly colors opens quietly toward distant hills – a moment where the brush paused and intuition said: enough.
Still Enough is an 18×24 oil painting that invites you into a landscape where stillness speaks and quiet wonder bristles in the air around you. Painted in calming greens beneath a layered sky of golden yellow and violet, the scene suggests the beginning of a dream in a secluded setting, surrounded by nature. At first, I wondered if I needed to add something “more,” but something inside me said, “Leave it. Let it be.” My family agreed.
As a painter – and a person – it took time to learn that knowing when to stop can be its own quiet art that takes practice and feedback from others. This piece is about holding back without losing heart, about the power of restraint, and about trusting that enough can still be full.
That lesson reaches far beyond the canvas. In my work as a school psychologist, I often see how hard it is for parents to resist stepping in too soon. Out of love and worry, they try to fill in gaps or smooth the path. But, in doing so, parents can unknowingly take away the space a child needs to stumble, solve, and grow. Confidence doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from doing, even imperfectly.
*Resisting the urge to overstep allows growing children the space to build confidence, resilience, and independence. Letting go a little isn’t giving up – it’s giving room to thrive.
