Open Road is a 16×20 oil painting on canvas, inspired by a fleeting moment from a film – an ending that felt, paradoxically, like a beginning. The road looms ahead, heading straight for the blue mountains, flanked by golden yellow land beneath a wide, calm sky.

This painting captures that universal moment of stepping – or driving – into the unknown. Whether it’s a new job, a changed relationship, or a quiet shift inside yourself, the road ahead often comes with more questions than answers. But there’s clarity in the act of going forward anyway. The palette is simple but strong, evoking both uncertainty and quiet optimism.

This image was also selected to represent my work in a unique way – miniaturized and shared across the country through Art-O-Mat vending machines. It’s a piece I return to often, because no matter how far we’ve come, there’s always a road ahead.
