Maze of Thought
$110.00
An abstract maze of colorful bars reflects the layered complexity of thought – how we navigate choices, challenges, and distractions.
Maze of Thought is an original 16×20 oil painting on canvas composed of bold, colorful bars that vary in length and direction. No lines intersect, but they press close, forming a fragmented pattern that suggests the layout of a maze. One bar runs horizontally across the entire canvas, turning just beyond center, like a path with intention, rerouted.
This piece reflects the mental terrain we navigate daily – the uncertain starts, unexpected walls, the turns we didn’t expect, and those turning points that become defining moments. Its color palette – reds, greens, blues, and yellows – with shifting directions, represents clarity and confusion, motivation and hesitation.
As a school psychologist, I often witness the psychoeducational “mazes” students, families, and even teachers must traverse – decisions, emotions, goals, and, yes, sometimes, setbacks. This painting is a quiet map of that process – progress without perfection, changes based on observation and team-based problem-solving.
There often is not a clear, linear path, but often, the turn is where the insight happens.
